Heart The Enduring Light Diyas PREORDER SEPTEMBER DELIVERY

Created especially for Sands, our heart-shaped The Enduring Light Diyas has been thoughtfully designed to represent the enduring love between a baby and those who carry them in their hearts.

Inspired by the traditional diya, a lamp that has brought light, comfort and hope to families for thousands of years, its heart-shaped design reflects the unbreakable bond that continues beyond loss. It offers a meaningful way to honour and remember a much-loved baby through the simple act of lighting a flame.

Long before the arrival of electricity, the gentle glow of a diya illuminated homes, places of worship and communities across South Asia. Traditionally made from clay, these small oil lamps provided light after sunset and brought people together during festivals, prayers, ceremonies and moments of reflection. Used by many communities, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists, the diya has come to symbolise light over darkness, hope over despair, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

While rooted in South Asian heritage, the symbolism of the diya is universal. Across many cultures and faiths, light is used to honour loved ones and create space for remembrance and reflection, making the diya a meaningful keepsake for families of all backgrounds.

Created for bereaved families affected by pregnancy or baby loss, the heart-shaped The Enduring Light Diyas offers a lasting way to honour a precious life and the enduring love that remains. Whether lit during Wave of Light, Baby Loss Awareness Week, Diwali, Lights of Love, on anniversaries, birthdays, or in quiet moments of reflection, it creates space for remembrance, connection and love.

Each heart-shaped The Enduring Light Diyas is individually handcrafted in small batches by bereaved mother and ceramic artist Shaheda. From shaping and drying the clay through to firing, sealing, finishing and preparation, each diya takes approximately 8–10 weeks to complete.

As every diya is made by hand, slight variations in shape and finish are to be expected, making each piece unique.

The first batch of The Enduring Light Diyas is currently being handcrafted and is expected to be ready for dispatch from early September 2025.

If you are ordering for a particular occasion or remembrance date, we recommend placing your order as early as possible.
